J. Terrence Cody was elected Judge of the Floyd Circuit Court in November 1998 for a six-year term beginning January 1, 1999. Prior to his election to the bench, Judge Cody practiced law in New Albany for 24 years with the law firm of Cody and Cody and its successor, Cody and Neely. Judge Cody is a 1967 graduate of Providence High School, a Department of Education Blue Ribbon School of Excellence; a 1971 graduate of Xavier University; and a 1974 graduate of Indiana University School of Law – Indianapolis. He is a member the of Floyd County, Indiana State and American Bar Associations; the American Judicature Society; the Indiana Judges Association; the American Judges Association; the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges; and the Sherman Minton American Inn of Court. Judge Cody is also a member of the board of directors of the Indiana Bar Foundation; Chairman of the Probate Committee of the Indiana Judicial Conference; and Chairman of the Indiana Fourteenth Judicial District Pro Bono Committee. |
